London / Croatia / Aceh
With only 10 days to go to Christmas, there's no time at the moment to make any comprehensive notes about this year's trip (these will come later) but, at least, the photographs are there to tell the story.
The prime motivation and timing for the trip was the need to visit Amy in Aceh at a time that would fit in with my TAFE studies and Amy's commitments. Then, having decided to go as far as Indonesia, it seemed logical to take advantage of the cheap airfares and go further afield to some relatively affordable European destination. As luck would have it, the American Pastel Journal was running an advertisement for a pastel workshop in Croatia. I contacted Lynda of Slikamilina and it all happened very easily.
The artist leading the pastel workshop was Steven Hill whose work I'd seen and admired via the wonders of internet, the timing was perfect, there was no decision to be made. Bron made the flight bookings for me and, without my knowing, organised a couple of nights accommodation with her brother Simon and his wife Ali in London. Lucky me - what a fabulous bonus!
It was a great trip and I'm looking forward to the quiet after Christmas to put some words around my experiences. Meanwhile, the photo captions provide brief clues.
